Main Street Elementary

Intentionally empowering the whole child

Music

Music at MSE

General Music at Main Street Elementary

Every student at MSE attends Music class once a week for 45-minutes.  We sing, move, read, play instruments and access  professional performances, live or video. It is a broad set of music and movement activities that also teaches children how to create, cooperate, improve physical coordination and gain confidence.  Critical thinking, eye-hand coordination and rigor are staples of Music where every skill is differentiated and meets children where they are.

Performance Opportunities For All Grade Levels

Every child has at least one opportunity to perform each school year. Most performances are at 6PM on campus and are no more than 45 minutes in length. These events build your child’s confidence more than anything else. They are special events you don’t want to miss!

Dates are TBA.

1st - Celebrate Show - March

2nd - LOOOVe Show - February

3rd - Spooky Show - October

4th - Winter fun - December

5th - American Music ShowCase - November

Chorale, Select Choir for 4th & 5th Graders

This popular choir sings challenging music and pushes the boundaries of expectations for such a young group. Chorale rehearses after school every Tuesday, 3:20-4:15. Singers must have transportation as there is no bus at that time. Students need a Chorale shirt, blue jeans and closed toe shoes. A contract music be read, signed and returned to director. This group represents MSE with many performances in the community so it is imperative that students and families are completely invested in the commitment. A highlight of Chorale is a performance at the Texas State Capitol Rotunda every April, which is by invitation only.
